The Bucharest National Opera is one of the most reputed institutions on the scene of the performing arts of the capital of Romania. In order to get a deeper insight into the amplitude of its role (both locally and nationwide), visitors are referred to the Museum of the Bucharest National Opera.

However, the 30,000 exhibits displayed on the second floor of the opera house, do not focus exclusively on the historical trajectory of the National Opera proper. They also try to convey a comprehensive picture of the nationwide opera tradition. The collections consist of scores, photographs, paintings, sculptural works, prints, costumes, letters, as well as personal effects of the great figures that shaped the history of the Romanian opera scene.

The museum was founded in 1964.
